Clean Energy Expansion to Drive Real Estate Demand, Says Colliers India

India’s rapid expansion of clean energy infrastructure is expected to support stronger demand in the country’s real estate sector, according to real estate services firm Colliers India. The ongoing growth in renewable capacity — especially in solar and wind energy — is driving significant land acquisition activity, which in turn could boost demand for industrial, logistics and housing projects.
Colliers India estimates that to meet renewable energy targets by 2030, developers and investors will need land investments totalling $10–15 billion for solar and wind projects. This requirement is likely to increase activity in land markets and spur development of supporting infrastructure such as warehouses, distribution centres and worker housing near renewable project sites.
The country’s renewable capacity has already crossed significant levels, with solar and wind making up nearly three-quarters of total installed capacity. Continued expansion under government initiatives aimed at energy transition and net-zero targets could make these energy-driven land requirements a meaningful driver of new real estate development.
Industry analysts say this trend reflects broader shifts in how real estate demand is evolving in India, where infrastructure, sustainability and emerging asset needs are becoming integral to long-term sector growth.
